When he's not keeping in touch with his fans on Instagram, A.J. McLean can be found scavenging the CNN app. The negativity he encountered on the news platform, regarding racial issues, cops killing innocent people, anti-gay marriage and more, has encouraged him to write a new song tackling all sorts of social issues. "This is ridiculous. This is the world my daughter's growing up in, and it's a fucked-up one," he told Rolling Stone.

The 37-year-old singer of Cuban descent, who is a member of the renowned '90s boy band Backstreet Boys, has dropped a solo rock record called "Live Together" featuring music producer Jordan James. The song was inspired by McLean's experience on the road, where for 22 years of his life, he's come across third world countries and people who have nothing but their high spirits and hope.

"This song is me taking a stand, saying, 'Everyone needs to accept everyone for who they are — gay, straight, black, white ....,'" he told the music magazine. "We would be flabbergasted how well people got along if they put their differences aside, and that's what I want from this video — to change people's views," he added.

"Live Together" is the first single off of McLean's upcoming solo album, "The Anthem." Check out the track below!
