Bachelor in Paradise
"Bachelor in Paradise" contestant Robert makes a connection with both Lacey and Clare, who are both past contestants on Juan Pablo's "The Bachelor" season. ABC

The premiere episode of “Bachelor in Paradise” began in typical “Bachelor” fashion with the cast introductions, one such introduction was that of Elise Mosca who literally crawled down the stairs because her heels were so tall and there was sand on the beach (who knew?) Joining Elise and her tall heels, were AshLee Frazier, Ben Scott, Clare Crawley, Sarah Herron, Robert Graham, Michelle Kujawa, Marquel Martin, Marcus Grodd, Lacy Faddoul, Daniella McBride, Dylan Petit. After the awkward hugs with host Chris Harrison, the bachelor and bachelorettes mingled at an informal cocktail hour and pretty much just checked each other for a solid hour, next to the Bachelor mansion in paradise!

The house is like an enormous tree house and provides all the contestants the perfect perch, from which they can stalk anybody who takes a dip in the ocean. And obviously the group took advantage of this vantage point when Lacey decided to take a romantic swim with Robert, and Marcus, even though Marcus admitted to still being heartbroken over Andi. Lacey’s plan to be noticed by the men seemed to work perfectly, and following her swim with Marcus, got Robert to admit that he was interested in her, and only her. After Lacy and Marcus’s swim, the ocean was big enough for another couple and Elise and Dylan entered the wave hand in hand, and made out, because in the words of Marcus “true love can happen.”

Day 2 began with a date card for Clare and she sweetly asked Graham to accompany her on a date to the ruins much to Ashley’s dismay. But just to clear one thing up, I’m pretty sure that ABC pinned the two craziest women against each other, poor Graham. Ashley begins to hysterically cry to herself in a closed room, and not only question’s Graham’s supposed “loyalty” that they created after 24 hours, but calls Clare an ugly slut.

After Clare seems to attempt to clear the air and ask Ashley if she’s upset, Ashley does not admit to having a breakdown, which in turn causes Clare to have a breakdown to a raccoon about “drama.” Who said “Bachelor in Paradise” wasn’t entertaining? Clare actually does the mature thing and approaches Ashley, who agrees that a “fair” compromise is for Clare to rescind her invitation to Graham, and instead take Robert on the date to the ruins. The pair enjoys the date, despite a run in with some fire ants.

The next date card was for Sarah, and she asked Marcus to accompany her. Sarah, who is so sweetly shy went on a pretty daring date with Marcus in an under ground lagoon. The couple had to jump into this underground cave and they even shared a cute kiss, which Sarah seemed to enjoy. After Robert and Clare returned to the mansion, him and Lacey had a conversation, which ended with Lacey feeling satisfied that Robert and Clare didn't kiss on their date. Then a surprise arrival occurred with Michelle Money joining the cast late, Graham greeted her warmly.

It was later revealed that Graham and Michelle had a fling on “Bachelor Pad,” however the pair didn’t work out. Michelle then decides to ask Marquel to ask him out on the date, and he says yes. They take a “wild” ride on horses on the beach and enjoy a delicious looking picnic in the sand. After the afternoon date, the night date was shared between Robert and Lacey who seem to be the item early on. The pair has dinner, while Marcus broods over his supposed connection with Lacey.

The rose ceremony anxiety builds in anticipation to the big event, and it’s pretty much just everyone figuring out who is getting a rose and staying in paradise or “Claradise,” as she Clare calls it. Right before the rose ceremony was set to start, Michelle K. revealed that she wanted to send herself home; on the car ride home she alluded to already being in love? (more on that weirdness later) The Rose Ceremony began with Marquel giving Michelle Money his rose, Graham then gave a rose to Ashley mainly because she’s scary, and like Sarah says, “he doesn’t want to get his balls chopped off.”

The next rose is given to Elise from Dylan, and then it was Marcus’s turn who ended up picking Lacey, even though Robert was planning on giving her his rose. Next up was Robert who pretty much defaulted his rose to Clare. The final rose was given to Sarah, meaning that Daniella McBride was sent home, despite being blatantly being the most normal woman of the group.
