Chino & Nacho are "super happy" with their new album "Radio Universe" --out June 23rd-- because it's home to 18 new tracks. In some songs, the duo even stepped out of their comfort zone to try out fresh sounds ---and the results are catchy and addicting.
In an exclusive Q&A with the press in Miami, Fla., the Venezuelan pop duo, consisting of Jesús Alberto Miranda Perez (Chino) and Miguel Ignacio Mendoza (Nacho), introduced all of their newest jams and the story behind them. They first talked of their latest promotional single "Me Voy Enamorando," which is making the rounds with its romantic lyrics and moving music video.
"Our music is Tropical Urban, we mix merengue and Latin roots, but with this song, we went a bit more urban," Chino said on working with Farruko in the 'Me Voy Enamorando' remix. But what makes this production a bit more magical is its music video which has become a viral sensation.
"This video has a very beautiful love story. Everyone here knows a person or has lost someone due to cancer. Well, with this video, we wanted to touch the hearts of those people with cancer to give them strength and positivism," Chino said. "The most effective remedy is love. Love from your family, your friends, that's what makes people go on and that's the message we wanted to send," he added of the video which was filmed in Venezuela.
But their tropical urban sound is not the only thing the boys have in store for fans. In "Radio Universe," they also experiment with other genres such as mariachis, reggae, vallenato and romantic ballads. Needless to say, they have catchy records with artists such as Jerry Rivera, Chiquis Rivera, Sean Kingston, Silvestre Dangond and Gente De Zona.
Though the chamos are already a household name, the road to success couldn't have been made possible without the 30+ people behind the "Chino & Nacho" team. So, what is the key to keep strong for more than eight years in the biz?
"A lot of respect and a lot of tolerance," said Chino. "We used to belong in a musical group called Calle Ciega, it was five of us, and we would always argue; however, that experience taught us the art of respect and tolerance," he added.
"We know our individual role in this duo and we focus to be the best in our work. That's been our secret," Chino said. Nacho agreed. "We made an album, then we made another one and then another one. As a musical pair, each one of our albums represent a child. The more children you have, the more stable the relationship is. It's going well for us because each of us knows our forte."
