Find out what to expect in "The Following" Season 2 premiere episode "Resurrection." FOX

“The Following” returns tonight to Fox with it’s Season 2 premiere, and if you were a fan of the series’ inaugural season, then you are in a real treat with it’s sophomore year. If you haven’t yet seen a promotional video, for the premiere episode “Resurrection,” then you don’t know that Joe Carroll is back! But don’t let the beard fool you, he is as deadly as he was in Season 1 but now he has the element of surprise on his side. In the trailer for “Resurrection” Ryan Hardy provides fans with an ominous voiceover, reminiscing about the moment when Carroll reminded him The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world he didn’t exist. And it seems like Hardy’s gut was right, because Joe certainly tricked not only the audience into believing he has perished in the explosion but also the FBI, who discovered the body.

But if you thought this season was just going to be a continuation of last season’s plot line, you are so wrong. For the first few minutes of the premiere episode, the audience will catch up where we left off with Hardy and Claire in his apartment, however after a fateful conclusion we fast-forward one full year. Hardy will be barely recognizable, he is sober and a productive member of society as in typical “The Following” fashion, the world remembers the one-year anniversary of Joe Carroll’s “death.” Along with a new Hardy, who has permanently distanced himself from the FBI, comes a new villain. Did you really think that Carroll was the only one capable of manipulating a cult? Not only will Hardy have to concede to Carroll’s miraculous return, a new psycho is in town, and he may be more relentless then Hardy’s first foe.
