High five! It's not over! CBS

Fans of “How I Met Your Mother” are still reeling from the series finale, which included divorce, death and a somewhat happy ending. While critics have been a bit harsh on the seemingly CBS series’ conclusion, fans bid adieu to “How I Met Your Mother,” one of this generations most hilarious sitcoms, with nothing but answers. The Mother has a name, we met the kids, Ted found happiness, all is how it should be, all the loose ends are tied up -- except for one! No high fives from Barney from here, the creators of “HIMYM” have intentionally “forgot” to solve one the series’ mysteries. But don’t fret too much, because they are just teasing their loyal fan base and even Ted is in out it.

“I know a nagging question from the show might be released as a DVD extra and I did shoot it,” says Josh Radnor who plays Ted. “But I feel I might not have approval to say what it is, so I’m just going to plead the Fifth.” While I’m sure your head nearly exploded with excitement, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that the scene Radnor is referencing, aka the answer to the nagging question, will be included in the “How I Met Your Mother” Season 9 DVD. Another tidbit of great news, while the Season 9 DVD does not yet have a release date, the DVD is available for pre-order on Amazon immediately.

So what’s the deal with the nagging question being left out of the series finale? Well apparently there is a backstory and it mainly revolves around the “HIMYM” creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays. Both Thomas and Bays are deeply indebted in the world of popular culture, and have, according to Entertainment Weekly, extensively studied TV series finales. This isn’t the first fans have heard of the now infamous unanswered question, Thomas referenced the omission on the “HIMYM” set while filing the final season this Summer. “There may be a few mysteries you think you’ve seen the last of, but there might be a little something later,” he says. “Without giving too much away, we toyed around with creating a little video to be released sometime after the series finale to sort of pay off one last little thing.”

In addition to the final answer secretly located on the final season DVD, the story of “How I Met Your Mother” may not be over, in fact, it seems like it’s set to start over. Thomas and Bays are also working on a potential “HIMYM” spin off entitled “How I Met Your Dad.” The story will revolve around Sally, who in the midst of a divorce from her husband, and embarks on a journey to find her second husband, who is the father of her kids. The only connection between the two series will be MacLaren's Pub.
