J Balvin’s words about diversity were completely taken out of context by social media users during his Premio Lo Nuestro speech last week. “Think outside the box. Be yourselves. If you have blue, pink, or yellow hair, if you break a tooth, if you have other sexual preferences, be your selves…fight for your happiness always,” said the Urban star during his acceptance speech.

Why did fans and followers start to make all the wrong assumptions? Well, Balvin decided to include some of his recent personal experiences in the speech, which could have created a little bit of confusion like, his new hair color and the fact that he recently chipped a tooth. But as soon as the rumors began sparking up, the “Ginza” performer made sure to clarify the situation.

“If I was gay I would’ve shown you my boyfriend already. Giving him kisses and calling him ‘papacito lindo.’ But if you only knew how much I like women…I’m sorry,” the 30-year-old singer said in a video he shared on his Instagram account.

Even though we have to admit that we know a few - a lot - ladies that will be ecstatic to hear the good news, we are sure there are some boys out there that are a little bit disappointed. Kudos to J Balvin for practicing what he is preaching, and supporting diversity and freedom of speech.
