Fans may get to fight with Freddy once again in the "Mortal Kombat" franchise. In a recent interview creative director of "Mortal Kombat X," Ed Boon, told Mad Catz about the possibility of guest characters returning to the title. Boon revealed that the possibility of a guest character returning to the title as a DLC is more than likely to happen however, he didn't mention which character that would be.

"That [guest characters] was something that was embraced in Injustice [Gods Among Us] and in Mortal Kombat," Boon said, noting that Freddy Krueger and Scorpion were the most-downloaded characters in "Mortal Kombat" and "Injustice: Gods Among Us" respectively. "I think there's a novelty to having a downloaded [sic] guest character, so, I think the chances are pretty high. I don't think every single one of them [new characters yet to be announced] will be a guest, but I think the chances of at least one of them will be pretty good."

Meanwhile as predicted Raiden, the Thunder God, was announced as a playable character for "Mortal Kombat X" at Evo 2014. After teases from Boon via social social media the character was finally revealed. So far only a handful of new characters have been revealed for "Mortal Kombat X" including: Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Ferrah and Torr and Kotal Kahn. And from the games first trailer we know we will see the classic fighters Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

As for the possible DLC characters the choices are endless but if Boon and the team follow trend we may see Krueger again as well as "God of War's" Kratos. We may even see some DC characters such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash.

"Mortal Kombat X" is expected to release 2015 on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS4 and PC.
