Paulina Rubio, who just wrapped her new music video “Vuelve” in Ibiza, agreed to be interviewed by various reporters during a break while she was shooting the clip. The singer took the opportunity to promote her new material, and discussed how important it is for artists to be active on social media to keep building your fan base.

“I am a ‘road’ artist, I was build up on the stage. Social media has helped me; I even know that provoking scandal and being in the public eye is part of the business. I am also aware that my comments, like when I support students in Mexico or Venezuela, carry a responsibility; I have a more actual social conscience about what’s happening; I think about how I can help and give my opinion, being judicious, or shutting up if it’s not my subject.”

A window opened for the reporter conducting the interview with those comments, and proceeded to question the singer about México’s current situation and what needed to be done to get back on track, to what Pau responded with:

“Legalize drugs, but that’s not going to happen because we have a deal with the U.S. We need that to be done because we can’t continue to be their ‘back door’; of course that’s how it is on the maps, there’s no other way. It’s unfortunate. There are a lot of interests that do not depend on a Mexican authority, most likely it is an affair that involves a treaty among countries.”

"La Chica Dorada" sure knows how to stay in the public eye by not having “pelos en la lengua,” and as crazy as these comments may sound, she might be onto something.
