"Pretty Little Liars" creator Marlene King attempts to clear Ezra's name, explaining away his creepy "A" like behavior, but unfortunately we are not buying it. Find out what she has to say about Ezra at the Ravenswood Founders Day Celebration during the Halloween episode "Grave New World" and costume coincidence. Alloy Entertainment

Even though I am still very upset with “Pretty Little Liars” for their betrayal of a reveal indicating that Ezra is not “A” but instead just a love sick, aspiring true crime reporter, after last week’s episode 21 “She’s Come Undone” the show is slowly crawling back on to my good side. But they still set us up, I understand that the entire show revolves around the mystery of “A’s” identity and that to reveal it would be somewhat of a series killer, but still, they lead us on, played with our emotions, and in the end expected us to believe that Ezra’s blatant “A” behavior was nothing more than investigative journalism. Hogwash, he was “A” or is “A,” I still can’t put all the pieces together, but Marlene King is urging fans to believe her when she says that Ezra is not “A.” She’s even going on record in an attempt to explain away his creepy behavior, especially during the Halloween episode “Grave New World.”

"I think there were two gas masks that night," Marlene explained to E! Online, attempting to clear Ezra of being the gas-masked figure who not only attacked Spencer nearly killing her but also locked Hanna inside of that seemingly paranormal phone booth. But her explanation doesn’t really make sense, because we already know for sure that there were two gas-masked figures, one of them being Ezra and the other being Luke of the now cancelled “Ravenswood,” so we are assuming that Marlene meant to say that there were THREE gas masks that night. But doesn’t that all seem a bit to coincidental? I mean this isn’t the standard witch or vampire costume, Ezra, Luke and “A” all happened to have an identical and authentic WWI gas masked solider costume—not likely. Where would they all buy this practically one of a kind costume? Some reports claim that “A” most likely knew what Ezra and Luke were planning on wearing to the Ravenswood Founders Day celebration and decided to plan accordingly. And while we want to believe this, there is a large flaw in this plan, Luke is was so obviously laced in the Halloween episode to give fans a sneak peek at Ravenswood, so we are eliminating him from our equation, but Ezra wasn’t always planning on attending the costume party. He was only there because he followed Ali or so Marlene explains, “I think he followed the trail of Ali, I think Ali went to Ravenswood first and Ezra was following her trail.”

This still doesn’t answer our question, if he was following only Ali and not Aria and the other liars, how was he immediately present after they discovered his lair. If he was in fact following Ali then he wouldn’t go to his lair, he would be on whatever trail she was leaving behind. And also, if it was all a coincidence that Aria, the Liars, Ali and Ezra were in Ravenswood, how did “A” have time to get the same exact matching costume as Ezra? Even though Ravenswood is a creepy old style town, this is just too much of a coincidence, I don’t think they would have that many WWI solider sets in stock, seems highly unlikely.

Despite what I considered my undying love for “Pretty Little Liars” I really do believe that Marlene and the series missed the mark with their character development of Ezra, he’s too far past the point o redemption. The only defense that Marlene can state is that Ezra never donned a black hoodie, but does that fact alone clear him of being “A?” I think PLL went too deep in their suspicions of Ezra being “A,” there are certain instances that can’t be explained away and unfortunately the Halloween episode, “Grave New World” was a total jumbled mess. Let us know what you think about the end of season 4 of “Pretty Little Liars,” does Marlene’s explanation of Ezra’s creepy behavior make sense to you? Please tell me I’m not the only one who doesn’t think Ezra can be redeemed!
