So if Ezra isn’t really “A,” who is? While we may be thoroughly disappointed in "Pretty Little Liars" right now, that doesn't mean I'm too upset to speculate on who "A" actually is! Check our top suspects for the identity of the Liars stalker, and some of our choices may surprise you! ABC Family

“Pretty Little Liars” has again left fans wondering about the identity of “A” following episode 20 “Free Fall,” which admittedly provided major plot twisting reveals, but just not the ones fans were promised or anticipated. Since August of 2013, during the “Pretty Little Liars” Season 4 Summer finale, fans watched as Ezra—the Liars’ high school English teacher, and boyfriend to Aria was seemingly revealed as “A.” Meaning that he, in addition to his hired help, also known as the “A team,” was responsible for mentally and physically torturing four high school students for years. But just as Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Aria were about to be in for the shock of their young lives, ABC Family and show creator Marlene King tricked us again revealing that Ezra is not “A.” While he may not be “A,” King confirmed in an interview with E! that “he is a pretty little liar.” After Aria discovered a supposedly implicating transcript the scandalous couple engaged in a blowout argument. The ending result of this huge build up was that Ezra was in fact “Board Shorts” but instead of being Alison’s killer, he admitted that he was Alison’s lover and had become obsessed with finding out what happened to her. Instead of being a mastermind stalker, he is a mastermind reporter looking for evidence for use in his true crime novel. So if Ezra isn’t really “A,” who is? We are eliminating some possible suspects, Mona is out, and because she’s already been “A” and we don’t think that she is going back to her black hoodie days. Shana isn’t “A,” I do believe that she is actually friends with Alison from childhood and wants to help her. Toby’s stint as “A” was short-lived and he is just too cute to be the actual evil genius torturing the Liars. As for CeCe, while she is still a viable option, her reasoning for torturing Alison would make sense but she doesn’t even actually know Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer—it doesn’t add up.

So who does that leave? Melissa, Jackie, Jason, Wren and of course Aria. Let’s break this group down further.

Melissa Hastings continually plays a disappearing act on “Pretty Little Liars” but has most certainly played an integral role in the disappearance of Alison, and has admittedly herself fallen victim to some blackmail. But doesn’t seem as though the pride and joy of Rosewood has made it out all too squeaky clean, compare her new swanky life in London to that of her old cronies of the N.A.T club. Wilden, is dead, supposedly murder by CeCe Drake, her former husband and father to her miscarried child, Ian is now dead after he was thrown off the bell tower by “A” when he was trying to kill Spencer, and lastly Garrett, the fallen police officer turned Melissa’s boyfriend that was killed on the Halloween night train. Compared to these unlucky gentlemen, Melissa has made quite a nice life for herself far away from the drama of Rosewood, but a sneaky suspicion makes us think that she is still an “A” suspect. In addition to her involvement as the Black Swan at the masquerade Melissa also once revealed to Spencer that she has been trying to protect her sister since before “it” all happened.

Wren Kingston may be a doctor, which just means he has plenty of room for all the sneaky tricks he has up his sleeve. Wren is allegedly living with Melissa again in London, after quickly sneaking away from Rosewood, leaving his apartment abandoned. In addition to his reconciliation with Melissa, the main suspicions activity surrounding Wren all comes from his role as a physician at Radley which soundly connects him to Mona, CeCe, and of course Alison. While Wren may be also be playing a runaway game like Melissa, he keeps popping up at just the right time. In addition to carrying on an odd relationship with Spencer, Wren has attempted to get close to Hanna and has even had an inappropriate relationship with his patient Mona.

Next up is Jackie Molina, if you don’t remember Jackie let me refresh your memory. She is Ezra’s ex-fiancé who popped up at Hollis College in Season 2 with grand intentions to not only stay in Rosewood but to win Ezra back from Aria, his 11th grade student at the time. The reason she is an “A” suspect now is due to Ezra’s big reveal in “Free Fall” that he was dating Alison in college and was clearly infatuated with her, perhaps Alison could have been the reason that Ezra and Jackie ended their engagement. You know what they say “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Jackie could totally want revenge against the women how ended her seemingly fairytale relationship, and torturing his current girlfriend and her merry band of friends is just an added bonus.

Where is Jason DiLaurentis?! Does anybody know exactly where Spencer’s half-brother is? Not his mom, Mrs. DiLaurentis nor his father, Mr. Hastings can provide a sufficient answer as to where their son has been lurking around for the past season. Jason has been a suspect for “A” since the very incarnation of the series, not only was he admittedly very jealous of his sister Alison, he is the only character with true connections to all the characters associated with the “A team.” Jason knew Ian, Garrett, Melissa, Wilden, CeCe, and Wren, and of course he knew his younger sisters friends.

Last but certainly not least is Aria. There is more evidence against Aria then I care to share, but now that Ezra is out of the “A” running, I truly feel that the exposure of Aria as “A” will be the only shocking reveal, everyone else would be too predictable. Either they have been suspected from the beginning of “Pretty Little Liars” and then quickly written out, or have been proved to be rogue members of the “A” team. I don’t think Marlene King would lead us to believe that someone is on the “A” team and then clear them to only implicit them as the uber “A,” is too cyclical and honestly such a cop out. One never changing clue that points to Aria as “A” is the fact that the texts from “A” started the day that Aria got back from Switzerland. More than just a coincidence, the first text message sent to all four girls read “I’m still here bitches and I know everything. – A” It was a full year since the disappearance of Alison, and Hanna, Emily and Spencer were all still in Rosewood, mourning the supposed loss of their fearless ring leader. Why give the girls a break for a full year before deciding to torment them as soon as Aria is back from Switzerland? Because she needed time to plan.
