Ximena Sariñana Is Not Ashamed Of Her Telenovela Past
Singer, song writer Ximena Sariñana recently confessed that she is not ashamed of her telenovela past as many actors that have started in the genre are. YouTube

Ximena Sariñana is best known for her music lately like the hit songs "Mediocre" and "Vidas Paralelas." Those of us who grew up watching telenovelas remember her fondly for portraying the evil, rich kid Mariela on "Luz Clarita." Remember how bad she was? She didn't want the orphan girl to live in the huge mansion she lived in because she thought her father might love her more and forget about herself. The father only brought Luz Clarita to help her socialize more and have a friend she could play with. Mariela was traumatized after the death of her mother and became very sheltered and hateful towards everything and everyone. The nanny was of no help as she also hated Luz Clarita and only fueled her spite against the child through her. It's been almost 20 years since that telenovela, but the public still recognizes her for that role, a role she is not ashamed to have in her curriculum.

"It's very funny that it's been more than 10 years since I left telenovelas and I still get people on the street that remember me for 'Luz Clarita' and 'Cañaveral de Pasiones,'" she told El Universal. "I left them [telenovelas] to dedicate myself to my great passion, which is music. There are days where I feel a better actress than a singer and other times it's the other way around, or days where I just feel fatal, one always questions that. What I do know is that practice is very important. It's been a long time since I've acted and I don't know if I would be able to do a good job, even more so when you see other people that do a better job." So this means that Sariñana won't be returning to the genre that gave her fame, not because she's not fond of it, but because she feels she needs to be fully dedicated to it. That's refreshing to hear from someone when we see so many horrible actors on-screen that don't sit back and realize they need to practice some more.

Another thing that is refreshing is that she doesn't bash the telenovela genre either. We have seen many actors minimize their roles in the small screen because they are ashamed of what they did when they were trying to make it in the business. A name that quickly comes to mind is Diego Luna who got his start in telenovelas. His most infamous role was on "El Premio Mayor" as Huicho Dominguez's son, a role he would much rather forget about. All we can say is that there is no shame if you didn't betray your morals, we all have a past and it's better to acknowledge than brush it off and make it seem like it never happened. Do you remember "Luz Clarita?" Tell us if you would like Ximena Sariñana return to telenovelas?
