A 13-year-old boy has been accused of killing a one-year-old infant as revenge after the victim's father allegedly slapped him a couple of days before the incident and humiliated him in public in Sairpur, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The authorities started looking into the incident after the naked body of a girl child was recovered from the water tank of a school in the Sairpur Police Station area. An investigation was immediately launched and the unnamed 13-year-old accused was subsequently arrested for allegedly killing the one-year-old child.

The boy reportedly confessed to his crime after being interrogated by the police, stating that he was spurred to commit the murder after he was allegedly slapped by the victim four days before the killing. The underage suspect also claimed that the victim's father frequently abused his family members and regularly humiliated them in public, the Times Of India reported.

"I found the girl child outside her house, I picked her up and brought her to my school and threw her body in the water tank. I also tied a brick to both her legs and threw away her clothes," the boy allegedly confessed.

Following this, the minor assailant was sent to Para Shelter home and will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

The authorities solved the crime after the boy was taken to the water tank in the presence of Field Services and Inter-cultural Learning members and a police team on Saturday. The minor could reportedly climb the wall of the school to reach the tank with ease. He also traced the girl's frock and the string that he used to tie her body.

Meanwhile, police officers also conducted a thorough investigation and questioned neighbors to verify and rule out the possibility of the involvement of any other culprit in the case. The minor was booked under charges of murder, kidnapping, and causing the disappearance of evidence.

Officers added that a child psychiatrist will be roped in to testify to the mental status of the boy and ascertain whether he faced any trauma.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man allegedly threw his 14-month-old daughter on the ground and killed her during an argument with his wife at their house in Noida, Uttar Pradesh in July last year, the Free Press Journal reported.

The man, identified as Jamshed, 28, who works as a laborer, allegedly threw his daughter at his wife, 23, while the couple was arguing at their house in a JJ colony in Sector 22 of Noida. The child was taken to a local hospital and was later referred to Delhi for advanced treatment. However, the child died while she was being transferred to a hospital in Delhi.

The father was arrested and a case was lodged under Indian Penal Code section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against him.
