A four-year-old girl’s quick instincts helped save her house from burning down. Her father shared two videos that captured her act of bravery and the videos have now gone viral on the internet.
Netizens are hailing the child, Amelia, as a hero for her quick action to alert her dad after she spotted a burning appliance in their kitchen.
Amelia’s father, Daniel Patrick Jermyn shared the videos of his daughter’s bravery on his Instagram.
"So my daughter saved my home tonight. The Air fryer short circuit and caught on fire. Now that it's all said and done you can hear Amelia say ‘Oh no, my dad is gonna kill me’ followed by ‘think think’. She is a real like hero today all while #frozen was playing in the background,” the caption under the video reads.
The CCTV camera in the house captured the entire incident. In the first video, Amelia spots the fire in the kitchen and quickly runs to call her dad. The second clip showcases Patrick putting out the flames.
He told Fox News that Amelia came running to him and said "Hey dad, you have to come look at this." She was swinging her arms and he could tell by the way she was acting that something was wrong, Patrick said.
He said the fire was emanating from an air fryer. He quickly got hold of the appliance and threw it into their backyard pool.
Although he was able to prevent a major fire accident, the flames have caused some significant damage, he said.
"The stove is down," he said.
The fire melted much of the appliance’s top. The rug and the microwave were damaged as well. He said if it had burned for a couple of more minutes, their cabinets would’ve been damaged as well.
No serious injuries were reported, however, melted pieces of the air fryer landed on his foot and on their dog as well, he said.
Patrick hopes that this incident shows other parents that kids even at a young age can still have a really good awareness of such situations. He says parents should take their children seriously when they say that something is wrong.
Amelia’s act is receiving major appreciation from netizens.
"So glad your family is safe from the fire! Your daughter is a hero!" an Instagram user commented.
"Glad everyone’s ok!!! She really is the best," shared another. "Omg!! What a smart little girl," expressed a third.
