Applying eyeliner is arguiably one of the more difficult makeup application processes, as there are many different techniques and styles and getting the line 'just right' can be a chore. And considering how important eye makeup is -- Mint.com recently disclosed that the average woman spends $15,000 on makeup in her lifetime and of that lump sum, a woman spends $3,770 on mascara and $2,750 on eyeshadow during their lifetime -- it is important to stay up to date on the best products and the most effective tips.

To help you out in this endeavor, Latin Times got five tips from Lancôme's National Makeup Artist Alex Sanchez (@PrimpAndPout):

1. What are the fall must-know makeup trends for eyeliner?

Go blue . . . it’s all about teal and sapphire eyeliner for fall. Check out Le Stylo Waterpoof in Blue Oasis or Artliner 24H in Sapphire from Lancôme.

2. How can women make sure their eye makeup is weather proof?

For weatherproof eyes, be sure to prime lids with shadow primer, line eyes with waterproof formulas and set the liner with shadow afterwards. I recommend Lancôme’s Aquatique because it provides long-lasting shadow wear and vibrancy, with absolutely no creasing.

3. What tips do you have for women who want to make their eyes look larger?

To make your eyes look bigger, skip the bottom liner for an instant eyelift that works for all eye shapes.

4. For the woman who wants something other than dark black eyeliner, what trends/tips do you have?

To make sure that the angles of your cat eye aren’t too wicked . . . Imagine the arms of a clock and set the angles to read 10 and 2.

5. For the working woman, what day-to-night eyeliner look would you recommend?

Liquid liner is a perfect option for the working woman. It is a classic French touch that will survive the workday and translate well at night.
