Al Horford hasn’t played a game since Oct. 29, and concerns among the Boston Celtics are growing every day.

According to ESPN, Celtics Head Coach Brad Stevens believes Horford “has not progressed in the NBA's concussion protocol and he is uncertain when Horford will return to basketball activities.” Horford suffered a concussion in practice a week ago, and it was initially thought that he would return sooner, but that hasn’t been the case.

"Horford has not advanced in the protocol, based on what I've been told," Stevens said after Monday's practice. "I have not gotten anything deeper than that, but he did not do anything with our team today. I don't know what we're going to do Wednesday. We've got a couple of days now to think about that. Monday was more about, let's assess and watch what we didn't do well and what we did do well, which on [the defensive] end of the floor wasn't much, and then figure that out. And I don't know who's going to be available, so that's the other part of that equation," Stevens said.

Horford signed a huge four year $113 million contract this offseason with the Celtics as a free agent after previously playing nine seasons with the Atlanta Hawks. The 30-year-old Dominican center is highly regarded as one of the best big men in today’s NBA. The Celtics are currently 3-3 having lost each of their last two games, which is good enough for No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference.

It is still undetermined whether or not Horford will play in Wednesday’s game against the Washington Wizards. However, it looks like Horford will not even make the trip to Washington D.C. due to health concerns, and optimism around the league points to him missing another game for the Celtics.
