It was an emotional night at the “American Idol” stage on Thursday night. Season 1’s “Idol” Kelly Clarkson, joined judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., and shared her critiques with the top 10. Clarkson not only empathized with the hopeful “Idols,” but also offered them great advice if they want to make it far in the competition.

Throughout the night, the judges agreed on most of their feedback and kept pointing out that this year’s group is not only the youngest generation of contestants, but also is probably the most talented group of people the reality show has ever seen. Avalon Young, Dalton Rapattoni, Gianna Isabella, La'Porsha Renae, Lee Jean, MacKenzie Bourg, Olivia Rox, Sonika Vaid, Trent Harmon and Tristan MacIntosh delivered outstanding performances that kept getting better and better as the night went on.

Representing Latinos, Gianna Isabella channeled her inner dream girl with Beyoncé’s ballad “Listen.” While Kelly admired her bald move, JLo encouraged her to take the competition higher if she makes it through the next round, “Ok, so, now we are into it. Now we are in the Top 10 in the competition. Now it gets serious. That was not your best performance ever for me. Of course it sounded really great because you have this amazing voice, and you have the power but it was very shaky. Now you have to really focus on picking songs that show all of your strengths, that you can really command in every single way if you are going to make it all the way through…”

The night’s favorite was La’Porsha Renae’s rendition of Rihanna’s “Diamonds.” “It is not my turn to speak but I don’t care because you, I mean, If I were you, which I, God bless I wish I were…But if I were you, I would just every time I opened my mouth to sing I’d be like ‘You are welcome!’ Because, no, that’s such a talent! You are going to win. If you don’t win, then I don’t understand,” Clarkson said after La’Porsha’s standing-ovation performance.

But the best moment of the night was perhaps when Kelly Clarkson took over the “Idol” stage one last time to perform her new single, “Piece by Piece.” Watch the heartbreaking performance below and don’t forget to catch this group of talented people every Wednesday and Thursday on FOX.
