Roughly a year ago, gossip mills went on an overdrive and suggested that reconciliation was likely between former spouses Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. While speculations have run amok, to this date, about the oddly comforting camaraderie shared by the exes, there’s no real truth in claims that point to a renewed romance of sorts.

“OK!” the popular lifestyle magazine made a series of sweeping statements pertaining to Pitt and Aniston’s “secret dinners” at the latter’s place. The ritual became a way of being after the two hit off pretty well at Aniston’s 50th Birthday bash.

“They love hanging out on the patio, listening to music and talking about life,” said a supposed source to the outlet in February last year. “Brad let Jen know how sorry he was for everything that happened, and told her that if he could take it all back, he would,” added the source.

The outlet hinted at how the meetings were leading up to something intense, as the former couple often discussed their marriage and what went wrong.

While the narrative makes for a great story, what needs to be noted is that there is no relevance to reality whatsoever. Both Pitt and Aniston’s reps have time and again quashed reconciliation rumors. Moreover, Gossip Cop had personally checked up on the fleeting rumors, only to be confirmed by Pitt’s spokesperson that the report was bizarre and lopsided on many levels.

Pitt wasn’t meeting Aniston over “Secret dinners” and neither does he wish to get back with his ex-wife. They are mature adults and they’ve moved on. It’s about time to go easy on the rumors as Aniston and Pitt seem to have their priorities elsewhere. Pitt has almost always maintained that he’s focussed on work and his kids, while Aniston seems busy with professional pursuits and a great set of friends.

They might not ever clean dirty linen in public, and it’s very likely for the two to share a warm moment if they were to cross paths in the future. But, to assume anything brewing beyond mere friendship is ridiculous, to say the least.
