Musk v Trump on Epstein_07072025_1
Elon Musk went on an X rant Monday after the Trump administration claimed the Epstein files do not exist. X

Elon Musk referred to the Trump administration's claim that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein had no "client list" as the "final straw."

Early Monday morning, Musk shared a meme mocking the Trump administration's flip-flop, from promising to release Epstein's client list, to saying they needed more time, to claiming the list was "on my desk," and finally to outright denying its existence in a memo obtained by Axios.

"What happened to 'the client list is on my desk?' What happened to 'the Epstein files part 2?' What happened to those magical binders. What a farce," one X user wrote in a follow-up comment, prompting Musk to declare, "This is the final straw."

Within the hour, Musk shared another meme of "The Official Jeffrey Epstein Pedophile Arrest Counter," featuring a counter stuck at zero. He captioned it, "What's the time? Oh look, it's no-one-has-been-arrested-o'clock again ..."

"If the entire government is protecting pedophiles, it has officially become the government against the people. I hope you all understand that," a tweet reshared by Musk read.

President Donald Trump's former ally has been criticizing the administration ever since it helped pass the "big, beautiful bill," which Musk claimed could enable presidential abuse in the future. In a now-deleted post on X, Musk went further, alleging that the Epstein list has not been released because Trump's name was on it.

Trump responded to Musk's claims with a screenshot from Epstein's lawyer David Schoen, who wrote that the president was not implicated in any crimes. Schoen also served as Trump's attorney during his second impeachment trial in February 2021.

In 2017, Epstein described Trump as one of his "closest friends." Additionally, Trump's name appeared in "The Epstein Files: Phase 1," released by the Department of Justice early in Trump's presidency, with his name listed seven times in the flight logs. He has maintained, however, that traveling on Epstein's private jet does not necessarily indicate criminal involvement, cleveland.com reported.
