Bayern Munich entered the 2013 UEFA Champions League final as a significant favorite over their German rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Looking for a reversal of fortune following their 2012 title loss to Chelsea in what became an instant classic, Munich knew a perfect effort would be needed to take down an extremely talented Dortmund squad.

Both teams were able to find balance on each side of the ball as the first 50-plus minutes of action saw opportunities for Bayern and Dortmund but neither was able to put the ball through the pipes.

That would change in the 60th minute when Bayern's Mario Mandzukic slipped one past Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller. Delivering off a crossing feed right along the goal line, the forward put last season's runner-up ahead in the match but there was still plenty of time for their German rivals to fire back.

Although they took control of the games momentum, it would not take long for Dortmund to respond.

Eight minutes after Mandzukic's goal, Ilkay Gundogan converted a penalty kick to tie the game at one. The action would continue to heat up as the next 20-plus minutes of action created one of the most entertaining CL finals in recent memory.

Tied at 1 with only 4 minutes (including stoppage time) remaining, the play of the game came at the 89-minute mark.

One of the most exciting players in the sport, Arjen Robben converted the play of his life, trickling a shot into the back of the net and putting Bayern up with little time remaining.

Robben's goal proved to be the game-winner as Bayern Munich erased last year's heartbreaking loss to Chelsea with a 2-1 victory over Dortmund in the 2013 UEFA Champions League final.

In a match between German powers, the pregame favorite proved to be too much as Munich can now celebrate a title.
