Univision has a major reason to celebrate as it set to finish the July 2013 sweep period as the No. 1 network in both 18-49 and 18-34 demographic groups topping the English-language nets. This is a first for the Spanish-language network who has a lead of 21 percent over closest competitor FOX, that is finishing off in second, according to Deadline.

“Finishing the February sweep as the No. 4 network, ahead of NBC, made a major impact. Wrapping up July – during a time when other networks are investing more than ever in summer programming – as the No. 1 network among both Adults 18-49 and 18-34 for the first time, is making history,” said Univision CEO Randy Falco.

This win is especially sweet as the other broadcasters have invested more on original programming this summer. That was not enough to beat out Univision's telenovelas like "Porque El Amor Manda" and "Amores Verdaderos," which is set to end its run this week, and important soccer tournaments like the "CONCACAF Gold Cup" and last week's celebrity bash, "Premios Juventud" fueling social networks after a smashing performance by Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull.

The audience that watches Univision has a median age of 37, which is right on target for advertisers that seek younger viewers. The other nets have a median age of FOX (47), NBC (54), ABC (55) and CBS skewing the oldest at 58.

These numbers will help the Miami based network to lure in advertesiers to spend more money on the Latin broadcaster, taking that budget away from their English-language rivals.
