Looking to move past AC Milan in the second and final leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, La Liga power Atlético Madrid hold a 1-0 advantage as they welcome their Italian opponents into the Vicente Calderon for what is expected to be another tight affair. Thanks to a late Diego Costa goal in the opening leg of the Final 16, Atlético Madrid will open the second frame in front of their home crowd with the advantage, something that is an obvious boost when talented players like Mario Balotelli stand on the opposing sideline.

With 27 goals to his name this season, Diego Costa remains one of the most lethal scorers in all of soccer. Los Rojiblancos currently sit three points shy of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid in the competitive Spanish Primera Division and while the Spanish National team standout would love nothing more than to help his club capture the league championship, Costa said recently that winning the UEFA Champions League title this season with Madrid is at the top of his career achievement list.

“It's a dream we know is very difficult, complicated, but we will go game by game and hopefully get through the tie against Milan,” he said. “We will think about winning it later. My teammates told me, Tiago especially, that the Champions League is another world and I wanted to feel it myself. The Champions League is special, and impressive for any player to take part in.” While Costa is set on completing a strong run through the current UCL tournament, Madrid head coach Diego Simeone says he's not ready to look too far ahead since Milan possesses the ability to strike back in tremendous fashion.

“Milan are a strong instituion in the history of football and they're used to games like these, beyond their current form in the Italian league, to how they are in this competition,” Simeone said. “They're a team with a lot of talented players. A team like this, in such a decisive game, is dangerous, regardless of the result from the first leg. I'm expecting the best version of Milan and I'm certain that tomorrow's game will be tough and difficult, because both teams have so much to play for. The best players, when they head into important games like these, show more than they may have been showing so far.”

As Madrid continues their final preparations for the second leg, AC Milan and boss Clarence Seedorf hope to strike back in strong form on the road. Though many believe a sense of urgency will be noticeable, the Milan leader says the key to his sides success will be composure and the ability to remain patient since they're only behind by one tally.

“I’ve often been in a situation in which we’re not the favorites, even in years in which we achieved important things,” he said. “The favourite was and is Atletico Madrid. It’s 11 v 11. We’ll see who ends up as winners. The first match gave us an idea about our chances. We know it’s difficult, but we have to go beyond our limits. You need to have balance in these occasions. Clearly we’ll play differently compared to the start of the championship. It’s difficult to score a goal and then close up and hold on for a win at this level. Tomorrow certainly won’t be like this.”
