The opening leg in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 may be in the books but with plenty still on the line for each club remaining in the field, the 2013-2014 version of the popular tournament sits as a highly intriguing event. Perennial powers in Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and defending champion Bayern Munich earned impressive victories in their first leg matches while teams like Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and AC Milan still have work to do in order to move into the quarterfinals. Despite taking the opening leg, La Liga power Atletico is clinging to a short 1-0 advantage, setting up an extremely entertaining reunion between the Spanish club and AC Milan.

Though they've struggled throughout the current Premier League season, Manchester United and first-year boss David Moyes were optimistic about their chances heading into the UCL Final 16 against Olympiakos. The former Everton boss cited the 2005 Champions League title victory by Liverpool, who took the top honor despite low success in the English League, something Moyes was hopeful his team would be able to accomplish this time around. While they're not completely out of it, the Red Devils will need to overcome an 0-2 deficit when they return to Old Trafford for a second leg showdown with their Greek rivals on March 19.

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side will look to put Galatasaray away on March 18 as they look to break a 1-1 tie when they host their final 16 opponents at Stamford Bridge while Bayern Munich hopes to knock the Arsenal Gunners out of title contention. As many teams continue to play with a sense of urgency, other clubs are in a comfortable state heading into the final stage of the Round of 16. PSG earned an easy 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in their opening leg while Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid blitzed in front of Schalke 04 6-1. Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund will enter their final legs with two-goal advantages over Manchester City and Zenit St Petersburg respectively.
