This past weekend, Coldplay was in Mexico City to continue their tour “A Head Full of Dreams” for which they sold over 180,000 concert tickets. But Saturday, during the early afternoon before the show, the band took over some of the city’s streets to film their new music video for the album’s upcoming single, “Up & Up,” which features their collaboration with Noel Gallagher.
The video stars the four members of the British band, Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jonny Buckland riding bicycles in the hip Mexico City neighborhood, La Roma. Marcus Haney directed the video.
Coldplay has been extremely well received all over Latin America. Martin made a popular move at a recent concert when he dedicated a special message and song to his son. The band’s frontman made headlines following the concert in Peru after singing "Happy Birthday" to his son Moses Martin, who will turn 10 on April 8.
"I have to do something right now that is very important," said Martin in the middle of his presentation. "It is my son's birthday. Kids, come out here. Everyone sing with me, please," he added. Not only did Moses join his dad on stage, but so did his older sister Apple and their mother Gwyneth Paltrow.
Earlier this year, Coldplay performed at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, along with Venezuelan classical music superstar Gustavo Dudamel and his Youth Orchestra. Despite the fact that the British band is rarely known for over-the-top special effects and making an entrance in giant lions, their performance was very touching, extra colorful and quite special.
The foursome was later joined by none other than (Queen) Beyoncé and Bruno Mars for an explosive end of the much-watched show.
