“CSI Vegas” is coming off a good first season with original cast members Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) on board. However, don’t expect the couple to be back in the second season.

Fox announced on her social media account that she has decided not to return for a second season. And it appears the reason for this is because Grissom will no longer be around, TV Line reported.

Petersen signed up for the initial 10-episode series but will stay on as an executive producer. According to showrunner Jason Tracey, they did not expect Fox and Petersen to return for the second season.

“The door will always be open to a couple of legends, but we only asked them to come back to help us tell this finite number of episodes,” Tracey said.

Before tweeting her decision, Fox was supposed to go on. However, the CSI Las Vegas original explained why.

“For me, CSI has always been a love story. The story that people can find love in the darkest of places and times,” Fox explained in a Twitter thread. “I personally just can’t split Sara and Grissom up again. So goes Grissom…..So goes Sara. Wherever they go, they belong together.”

Hence, this means that the new CSI Vegas gang will have to go on without the two legends. Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mandeep Dhillon and Mel Rodriguez did a decent job in the first season, mixing old school tactics with the advances that the crime lab now has to offer.

However, Tracey hints that some characters from the past may emerge. Old cases may be dug up, possibly a way to spur up some old faces people best remember from the series.

“I’d be like a kid in a candy store if I got a Season 2, to kind of ‘go shopping’ and hopefully tap in some familiar faces,” Tracey quipped.
