A woman identified as the daughter of retired Cuban General Ulises Rosales del Toro has reportedly been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to Cuban exile journalists and public ICE database records.

The case quickly generated attention across South Florida and among Cuban opposition figures because Rosales del Toro is one of the most recognizable military and political figures linked to the Cuban government.

Journalist Mag Jorge Castro reported that Alina Rosales Aguirreurreta appeared in ICE's public detainee locator system. Cuban journalist Daniel Benítez later said he independently confirmed that the detainee is the daughter of the former Cuban general. Telemundo had earlier reported a possible name match involving the ICE records.

Ulises Rosales del Toro, now retired, served for decades as one of the Cuban Revolution's most influential military commanders and political officials. A close ally of Fidel Castro, he fought in Angola during Cuba's military interventions in Africa and later became Cuba's minister of agriculture after holding senior posts in the Revolutionary Armed Forces.

For years, Rosales del Toro was considered part of the inner circle of Cuba's Communist Party leadership. His name has frequently appeared alongside senior regime figures tied to the island's military and economic power structure.

The apparent detention comes as the Trump administration has intensified immigration enforcement and scrutiny of individuals connected to authoritarian governments, including Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.

In recent months, federal authorities have also targeted relatives of high-ranking Cuban officials residing in the United States, particularly those accused by critics of benefiting from privileges unavailable to ordinary Cubans on the island.

The story immediately fueled reactions among Cuban exile activists, many of whom have long criticized what they describe as a contradiction between anti-American rhetoric from Havana officials and the presence of their relatives living in the United States.

Neither Rosales del Toro nor Cuban government officials publicly addressed the reports.

The ICE online detainee locator allows users to search for individuals currently in immigration detention using names and biographical information, though exact details about detention status or immigration proceedings are not always publicly available.

The case also underscores the growing political sensitivity surrounding Cuban migration in the United States. South Florida remains home to one of the country's largest Cuban exile communities, where news involving relatives of regime insiders often sparks intense public debate.
