Dayna Morales, a waitress at Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater, New Jersey and veteran of the United States Marine Corps, has recently become the focus of attention regarding the recent actions and comments left by patrons of the restaurant where she works. While serving a family earlier this week, Morales approached her duties the same we she has since becoming a waitress 10 years ago. Approaching the table to begin taking their orders, Dayna Morales introduced herself the way any other waiter or waitress should when first interacting with customers.
"Normal introduction, 'My name is Dayna," Morales recalled. "I'll be taking care of you. Right away the mom looked at me and said, 'I thought you were going to say your name was Dan.'" Upset and somewhat frazzled, Morales preceded to handle the disturbing situation with grace and total professionalism, despite the fact that she was highly upset with the previous events that had just occurred at her expense. "I was rather offended, mad," she said. "I didn't know how to react to that. I never thought that would ever happen."
Upon finishing their meal and departing the restaurant, the family left their completed receipt on the table, except the slot where the tip would normally be jotted down was filled with something completely different. "It said, I'm sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle and how you live your life," Morales recently said to ABC television. This particular situation was puzzling to Dayna Morales because she never said anything to the family about her lifestyle. The note left on the receipt also prompted Morales to take to the Facebook page 'Have A Gay Day,' where she was able to vent about the situation.
I am THOROUGHLY offended mad pissed off and hurt that THIS is what her kids will grow up learning and that I served in the Marines to keep ignorant people like them free. Sorry lady but I don't agree with YOUR lifestyle and the way you're raising your kids but you didn't see me throwing that in your face and giving you sh***y service. Keep your damn mouth shut and pray we never cross paths again.
Since posting a picture of the receipt on the social media site, Morales has received growing support for the unfortunate, uncomfortable and unnecessary events that took place. She did note however that if the family elects to come back to the restaurant in the future, she would serve them as if they were any other patrons, even if she's still upset about what took place.
