The naked body of a 23-year-old Japanese porn star, who was reported missing, has been found tied to tree in a remote forest earlier this month, according to reports.
Rina Arano, a resident of Tokyo’s Bunkyo Ward, was last seen alive on June 5, three days before her family reported her missing.
A CCTV outside Mito train station in Ibaraki Prefecture captured her final moments. She was seen getting into a car with 33-year-old Hiroyuki Sampei.
The police had been searching for the adult video star, when on June 14, they found her decomposing body, naked and tied to a tree on a slope about 6 meters below a forest road near Sanpei’s luxurious villa.
“Rina Arano was tied to a tree without clothes and has been dead for almost two weeks,” a police statement said, The Sun reported.
"We are still trying to determine the cause of death.”
"The man she was with was already questioned."
No external injuries were found on her body but an autopsy result showed that Arano suffered a broken hyoid bone - the U-shaped bone in the neck that supports the tongue.
Her cause of death remains inconclusive, but police believe that she could have been strangled.
Sampei was arrested on June 14 on suspicion of kidnapping and confining Arano, the Japan Times reported.
Police said Sampei denied the allegations but admitted to bringing Arano to his vacation home. Sampei claimed he later dropped her off at a nearby store.
He said they knew each other from chatting on Twitter.
Arano’s cellphone was found inside Sampei’s home but he has denied forcing her to stay there.
The police have also seized Sampei’s phone, which contained photos of Arano in handcuffs.
Sampei claimed that he had handcuffed Arano with her consent and that he had no knowledge of what happened to her after he dropped her at the nearby store.
Sampei is yet to be charged as the investigation is ongoing.
