A 54-year-old doctor has been facing court for allegedly putting his semen into tea and offering it to a woman.

Somerset County Gazette reported that Dr Nicholas John Chapman is accused of trying on Sept. 13, 2021 to cause a woman aged 16 or over to engage in sexual activity by causing her to consume his semen when she did not consent. The doctor allegedly committed the same offence on at least one occasion between Sept. 12, 2020 and Sept. 12 last year.

At the Taunton Crown Court, UK, Thursday, Dr Chapman answered to two counts of attempting to cause a woman aged 16 or over to engage in sexual activity without her consent, reported Daily Star. He appeared before Recorder John Trevaskis and pleaded not guilty to two charges of sexual activity without consent. Chapman would remain on conditional bail that was imposed at a previous appearance at the Taunton Magistrates' Court, Trevaskis told the doctor. He was also given an order not to contact his victim or other named witnesses in direct or indirect way.

A date for the trial, which is expected to last four or five days, is yet to be decided. The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will give her evidence from behind a screen when the case reaches trial.

Last month, the doctor appeared in court and the details of the case against him were outlined during a hearing at Taunton Magistrates’ Court in Somerset, England, reported the Independent. The victim discovered a substance at the bottom of her cup when she finished the drink given to her by the defendant, Giles Tippett, prosecuting, told the two magistrates overseeing the hearing. The incident was reported to cops three days later and a laboratory test confirmed that the substance was “semen that related to the doctor," said Tippett. Defending the doctor, Nigel Yeo said that his client’s response to the charge is “a straightforward denial."

Chapman, who works at the North Curry Health Centre in Taunton, Somerset, remains suspended from his post. The father-of-three, who lives in Kingston St Mary with his partner, was born in South Africa. In 1993, he qualified as a doctor at the University of Cape Town. Yeo said that "all his community ties" are in the UK.
