A Kentucky mother pleaded guilty to killing her 3-month-old daughter after she passed out on top of the infant.

On February 19, 2020, after three days of partying, Ebony Moore wrecked her car and then passed out on top of her infant daughter. The child suffocated and eventually died, officials with the Louisville Metro Police Department said.

"The officers raised the defendant slightly from her position to discover her unconscious three-month-old infant daughter underneath the defendant’s torso," Judge Barry Willett, read out an official document during a court hearing.

On Wednesday, May 19, nearly 15 months after the alleged incident, Moore pleaded guilty to killing her infant daughter, Charvi Skruggs.

According to court documents, Moore admitted she had been partying three days straight before the fatal accident. She also admitted to using alcohol, marijuana, ecstasy, and muscle relaxers, documents indicated.

In February 2020, Moore’s family spoke to reporters from the Wave and said she was suffering from what they described as mental illness. They said she had also developed suicidal tendencies.

However, on Wednesday, Moore told the judge that she was not suffering from any kind of mental health issues.

"Do you have any history of Mental Health Treatment issues?" asked Judge Willett.

"No, sir," Moore answered.

"Are you pleading guilty because you are in fact guilty?" the judge asked.

"Yes, sir," Moore replied.

The mother pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and will most likely spend at least six years in prison; eight years with probation. Moore will have to undergo a mandatory drugs and alcohol education program as she is also facing charges of Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 30.

Moore’s family remembered her as a good mother who accidentally fell on hard times.
