A Ferrari 458 VLN series race car on the Nurburgring is a beautiful thing to see. A Ferrari 458 race car wrecking at the Nurburgring, on the other hand, will likely be the most cringe-inducing thing you'll see today. A video shared on YouTube shows a Ferrari stepping over the edge and crashing into a barrier.

The VLN (Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenpokal Nürburgring) is an endurance racing series held exclusively at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The VLN series closely mirrors the 24 Hours Nürburgring and shares many similar rules and welcomes the same class of participants. In fact, teams that wish to enter the 24 Hours of Nurburgring must first complete all the VLN races prior to the event in order to gain practice and experience on the notoriously dangerous circuit.

This red Ferrari 458 was looking quick as the video first shows the car whipping around "the Karussell." Unfortunately, the lap fell apart when the Ferrari went flat out on a series of rhythm corners before dipping a wheel into the grass. According to the video, the car was traveling at approximately 220 km/h, or 137 mph. The strong impact against the barrier damaged the video camera and ended the feed. Thankfully, we're told that both the driver and the passenger in the Ferrari emerged from the wreck uninjured.
