Brothers who reportedly worked at a school in Sylvania were charged with similar sex crime cases that involved a student.

One of them was identified as Dustin Wade Dalton, a 29-year-old former Sylvania teacher who pleaded guilty to second-degree sodomy and school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19. He was meted a 10-year prison sentence by Judge Jeremy Taylor on Monday, Nov. 1 per AL.com.

The 29-year-old will have to serve three years in prison before his release. After that, they will serve another five years on supervised probation. He will also need to register as a sex offender.

Dalton was arrested in October of last year and was indicted only last June.

“The plea agreement was reached after several meetings with grieving family members. As always, we want to achieve accountability and just punishment while reducing any further trauma to victims of child sexual abuse. We are grateful for the brave students who came forward and hope this can help them feel a measure of closure and peace,” Chief Deputy District Attorney Bob Johnston said via WAAY.

His brother, identified as Donavan Wayne Dalton, was apprehended five days after the 29-year-old’s arrest. Like his sibling, he was also charged as a school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19.

The younger of the two brothers reportedly worked as a special education teacher and coach with the Fort Payne School System per the Times-Journal.

The 28-year-old man was also indicted earlier this year on charges of sodomy, a school employee having sexual contact with a student, and sex with a child more than 12 years old but less than 16.

There was no mention of what sanctions he will face. However, court documents showed that this may be known by February 2022 when the next action case is held.
