“Grace And Frankie” season 6 is coming after a year of absence on Netflix. The good news is that even before this sixth installment airs, the comedy series has already been renewed for season 7 but the downside is - it will be the last.

Entertainment Weekly reported in September that giant streaming service provider made an announcement that “Grace and Frankie” will continue until the seventh season which will also be the show’s final run. By the time the show ends, it will have a total of 94 episodes making it Netflix’s longest-running original series.

“It’s thrilling and somehow fitting, that our show about the challenges, as well as the beauty and dignity of aging, will be the oldest show on Netflix.” Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, co-creators and showrunners, said.

As for the lead stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, they said that they are happy but also sad at the same time as they have to say goodbye already. The two issued a joint statement with regards to the conclusion of their much-loved comedy sitcom.

“We are both delighted and heartbroken that ‘Grace and Frankie’ will be back for its seventh, though the final season,” the lead stars said. “We’re so grateful that our show has been able to deal with issues that have really connected to our grand generation.”

Release date

Netflix finally announced that the sixth season of “Grace and Frankie” is set to return on Jan. 15, 2020. The first batch of photo stills was also revealed and every photo confirmed that fans will look forward to more wacky and hilarious episodes.

The Cast

When the show returns, fans will definitely still see Jane Fonda as Grace and Lily Tomlin as Frankie. They will be supported by Sam Waterson (Sol), Martin Sheen (Robert), Brooklyn Decker (Mallory), June Diane Raphael (Brianna), Baron Vaughn (Bud) and Ethan Embry as Coyote.

As per Deadline, Kauffman disclosed that Ernie Hudson who played Jacob, Tomlin’s love interest, will be back in “Grace and Frankie” season 6. Peter Gallagher (Nick) and Peter Cambor (Barry) are also in the cast lineup with Mary Steenburgen making a guest appearance.

It appears that Grace and Jacob will be reunited as they still have some unfinished business. The showrunner said that the two still have some “electricity between them” and it is so vibrant that they need to see each other again. Moreover, Robert and Sol will also be spending more quality time together and that is a heartwarming scene.
