"GTA V"s PC release date has been eagerly anticipated: so eagerly that thousands of PC users have unsuspectingly downloaded malware-laden software hoping it was the as-yet unreleased version of the blockbuster game. Hitting more than $1 billion in sales, "Grand Theft Auto 5" has been one of the most successful games in history. The desperation for a PC version is palpable, and, as PC World reports, some people found that desperation to hard to resist. Several torrents have emerged online claiming to be legitimate versions of the game: however, upon trying to download the software, users are taken to a phishing site that tries to get them to enter personal information to 'register' the title. The download also comes with 18 GBs worth of files, all of which are most likely viruses, malware and spam.

"GTA V"s PC version is still a few months away at least. But that hasn't stopped people from hoping. WCCFTech reported that thousands of people have downloaded the fake game. For now, the thrilling RPG is only available on PlayStation and Xbox. However, PC Gamer reports that the eagerly anticipated PC "GTA" will come along eventually. They spoke with Chris R. Silva, Director of Marketing for Intel's Premium Notebooks: "I don't think it'll be console exclusive very long," he says. "But that's what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content." The PC gaming ecosystem just keeps expanding, and no doubt "GTA 5" will be made available across all platforms soon. For now, Latin Times suggests patience grasshopper, patience.

In addition to the PC release, the PS4 release seems to make sense for Rockstar too: "GTA V" has been not only one of the most successful games of all time, it has been one of the most successful releases across the entertainment industry. Within 24 hours of release, "Grand Theft Auto V" generated more than $800 million in revenue, far exceeding the previous record set by Call of Duty: Black Ops II. In the UK, GTA V became the fastest-selling game of all time. In just three weeks, GTA V beat the lifetime sales of GTA IV. It boosted software sales for September 2013 by 52 percent in the North America. It was also the largest digital release on the playstation store.
