One of the most watched and highly-anticipated dramas on television, Emmy-winning CIA masterpiece "Homeland" will be returning for a fourth season, according to Showtime. The show will be delivered to fans in 2014, but the network has yet to reveal a set date for when Season 4 will premiere. Despite the unknown date, loyalists of the program should have a basic idea of when to expect the first episode to run. Being that the first three seasons of the series have premiered in the last week of September or the first two weeks of October the consistency of these previous runs suggests that "Homeland" will air sometime in October.

Though not set in stone, the date of Oct. 19, 2014 seems to pop up when searching for the "Homeland" Season 4 premiere date through Google and with that time still five months away, fans of the drama are beginning to wonder what they can expect from a show that has certainly not disappointed from a "shock and awe" standpoint. Currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa, Season 4 is scheduled to take place in the Middle East, a far cry from the usual CIA offices commonly seen in numerous episodes. While South Africa is certainly not part of the Middle Eastern region, network and program directors felt comfortable with the setting since they can frame it to appear as part of that geographic location.

In addition to the Season 4 setting, rumors concerning the possible return of Nicholas Brody seem to be picking up steam. “I would say it’s possible,” said Mandy Patinkin (who plays Saul), on the idea that Brody (played by Damian Lewis) may not be dead and could reappear. “I don’t think it will be a regular occurrence, but I think it will be an emotional, occasional occurrence.” Of course when certain rumors start to grow out of control, there are many who try to refute the news, including show runner Alex Gansa. Gansa said recently that, despite what Patinkin believes, the character Nicholas Brody will not come back.

While these points are surely noteworthy for those itching for the start of Season 4, perhaps the biggest mystery concerns the role of "Homeland" villain. There has been no official announcement that a selection has been made but many believe that F. Murray Abraham (who plays the role of Dar Adal) will become the rogue character. Confirmed by Showtime to be returning following a significant part in Season 3, the upcoming series could highlight the way the team works with Adal while trying to figure out if he’s an ally or an enemy.
