An 8-year-old Russian boy received brutal punishment from his stepfather and mother. It was revealed that he was made to kneel on buckwheat for nine hours, for 10 consecutive days.

According to the UK’s Metro, because the boy was made to kneel on the buckwheat for a long time, the grains started to grow on his skin since they were embedded already. As a result, the boy’s knees were bleeding and infected plus the seeds had to be surgically removed because they have roots already.

His parents, 35-year-old stepdad Sergey Kazakov and 27-year-old mother Alina Yumasheva, were jailed for their cruelty with the former being sentenced to 4 and a half years while the mother to 18 months. It was said that the boy was punished for running away and stealing money.

The mother said that she approved of her husband’s punishment method for their son so the boy doesn’t really have anyone at home who can help him. The Daily Mail reported that Yumasheva and Kazakov learned about this kind of punishment from the internet and agreed to apply it to their son.

“I checked on it myself and set up an experiment,” the mother said. “I knelt on it. It didn't hurt me. So he (Kazakov) was allowed to apply this punishment.”

The cruelty of the parents was divulged when the boy was able to escape and ran to their neighbor to ask for help. The lady neighbor was shocked to see the boy’s wounds for it was still bleeding and the seeds are stuck there and growing on his knees.

As per Sky News, the punishment was also filmed and it showed the stepfather also kicking and pulling the boy’s hair because he was not kneeling straight up. The 8-year-old could be heard saying “It hurts!”

The incident happened in May last year and the trial took place early this week. During the hearing, Lyudmila Sharapova, the nurse in the clinic where the boy was brought at first testified in the court and shared that they were “absolutely shocked when they saw his injuries.

"I have worked as a nurse for 43 years and I have never seen anything like it, anyone treated like that. The wounds were terrible,” she said. "I remember standing close to him (during the procedure), and he asked me: 'Nanny, will I get to go to a good family?'"

Finally, the child's teacher said that the boy is academically smart and they did not have a clue about what was happening to him at home. The boy is likely to be put up for adoption as his parents will stay in jail.
