Enigma Norteño bids farewell to Ernesto Barajas, this is how his burial took place

The artist Ernesto Barajas, creator and vocalist of the Mexican music band Enigma Norteño, was buried in the Mexican city of Guadalajara in a moving ceremony in which his loved ones, including the musicians of his band, said goodbye to him with music and released balloons into the sky.

Meanwhile, authorities in the state of Jalisco released the first reports on the investigation into the murder of Barajas, who was shot in the city of Zapopan while purchasing four vehicles for members of his team and his family.

The funeral for Barajas, 38, began in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, where the artist had moved a year and a half earlier, fleeing death threats in Sinaloa.

At the local Moreh Funeral Home, friends and loved ones paid their respects to the remains and family. Dozens attended the funeral, while white floral arrangements filled the premises.

The scene was painful, but the greatest expression of grief for Ernesto Barajas's death occurred at his funeral. Heartbreaking scenes featured his family, including his wife, Alexis Sillas, and his two children.

The members of Enigma Norteño, the band he founded in 2004, performed songs like "Te vas ángel mío," which was heard during his funeral. Traditional floral arrangements were also featured, as well as artistic motifs such as an accordion and a treble clef. Other musicians and composers in attendance included Luciano Luna and Beto Sierra.

The investigations into the murder of Ernesto Barajas

Prosecutor Salvador González de los Santos testified during a press conference on Thursday, August 21, describing the findings of the investigation into the crime.

"When they were paying the pension service, the men arrived on a motorcycle and attacked the singer directly. We spoke directly, because he's the one with the most bullet wounds," he said.

"The passenger, who is his friend, suffered a single blow, and the employee who was collecting their pay suffered a leg injury and is out of danger," he said, referring to the other victims. The man, identified as Chema Quintero, died instantly.

González also ruled out the possibility that Barajas and Quintero were victims of the war waged by the various factions of the Sinaloa Cartel for almost a year . However, he admitted that the theories focus on the narcocorridos of Enigma Norteño.
