Meghan Markle used to always date well-dressed Latin men, but she suddenly changed gears while studying at Northwestern University. While there, the Duchess of Sussex dated basketball star Steve Lepore, but their relationship was short-lived.

In the book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” royal author Andrew Morton revealed that Steve was Meghan’s first boyfriend in college. The Ohio native stands at 6'5", and he made Prince Harry’s wife feel short with her height of 5'6".

“Her association with Lepore raised her stock with her Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority sisters, who were impressed that she had snared such a hottie,” Morton said. But Meghan and Steve were forced to end their relationship shortly after they started dating because the latter transferred to Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Meghan, on the other hand, opted to stay in Los Angeles.

“[Meghan] was moving into a new world from LA and being able to land a guy who was already settled and popular was important for her,” a source told The Sun. “She was very proud of having landed this handsome guy and happy to share photos of him. She spoke of how broad and beautiful his chest was. Meghan was used to being ‘the star’ of the pairing, but Steve was the star of the basketball team. She hadn’t ever dated someone like that,” the source added.

Morton echoed the unnamed source’s statements by saying that Meghan used to date the likes of Luis Segura, a well-dressed Latino. But the royal’s taste in men seemingly changed while she was in college.

Luis and Meghan were introduced to each other by the former’s sister, Maria. The royal also forged a close relationship with Luis and Maria’s brother, Danny, prior to dating Luis. Danny also escorted Meghan to prom in 1998 while they were studying at St. Francis High School.

According to Morton, the Duchess of Sussex was one of the popular girls in her high school. The other students also looked up to Archie’s mom, which helped her gain her “star status.” And after directing a school play, Meghan gained even more supporters. She was later on crowned as Homecoming Queen.
