Justin Bieber mexican era

Justin Bieber appears to be embracing a bold new chapter, and it's not just about his latest albums, SWAG and SWAG II, or his new clothing brand. This one leans deeply into Mexican musical culture. After being spotted dancing to mariachis at a basketball event, he was later seen joining a banda ensemble in Los Angeles, playing the tambora and singing along live with the musicians. These moments suggest that Bieber is stepping beyond mere tribute and entering what might be called his Mexican era.

Last night, October 14, during a basketball game to promote the sports line of his brand Skylar, Bieber crossed paths with Fuerza Régida, a prominent group of Mexican norteña band music. He happily accepted one of their jerseys.

At another LA sports gathering, a live banda group played onstage. Bieber moved toward the musicians, grabbed a pair of drumsticks, and began playing tambora in sync with the band. Videos of the encounter show him clapping, nodding, and singing parts of the tune as the crowd cheered

That mirrors similar footage from earlier, where Bieber danced alongside a mariachi band during his brand's event and even attempted to sing "Hermoso Cariño." Mexican media ran headlines declaring, "Justin Bieber cae rendido ante el género mariachi y nos enseña cómo se baila."

These aren't one-off stunts. They follow a series of appearances that show Bieber engaging with Mexican styles publicly and repeatedly.

That said, Bieber's musical link to Mexico isn't new. Back in June 2012, he played a free open-air show at Mexico City's Zócalo plaza to over 200,000 people. It was a landmark moment in his Latin American connection. Of course, there is a more personal introduction. During his years with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, he regularly visited her abuelos in Texas and made several trips to the country.

More controversially, in 2013, he tweeted that he had met Mexico's president before a concert. The next day, the Mexican government denied it, clarifying that no such meeting had taken place. The episode showed how Bieber's interactions with Mexico have long stirred media attention, even on diplomatic levels.

Of course, Mexico isn't the only Latin country to have the Bieb's attention. His first foray into recording music in Spanish was Despacito, the iconic song of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. He has been listening recently to Dominican dembow star El Alfa's mega hit 4K, which has sparked rumors that there is a collab in the works.
