A celebrity physician was called out after being spotted partying without a mask on Thursday. Mikhail Varshavski, a.k.a. the “hottest doctor” on Instagram, was caught mingling with a group of women in bikinis on a boat in Sunset Harbor for his 31st birthday bash.

Photos during the party show a shirtless and maskless Mikhail Varshavski giving one of the women a neck rub while savoring a bottle of champagne. The images were quick to spark outrage from his Instagram followers, who questioned his integrity as a medical professional.

“I know it’s your life and you can do what you want, but you have chosen to be a public figure,” said one of his followers. “And because of that, and your profession, you are held to a higher standard. You are supposed to be the example. I admired and respected you. Now that is all lost,” the follower added.

Other fans called Varshavski a hypocrite and questioned why he partied like that when he always pleaded with the public to mask up when going out. In a July interview, the famous doctor urged the public to help curb the spread of the coronavirus by wearing a mask all the time.

“Please, if you’re going outside in public and are going to be around other people, wear a mask,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s silk, cotton or surgical grade. The purpose of the mask is to limit the respiratory droplets that you put out into the environment. By wearing a mask, you are essentially limiting the spread to the community,” he added.

Varshavski, who was hailed as the “sexiest doctor alive” by People Magazine in 2015, also said in a YouTube video with infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci that the public should never underestimate the value of social distancing during the pandemic. “Social distancing is incredibly important,” he said. “That’s how we control the spread of this virus.”

Meanwhile, a representative of Mikhail Varshavski told the press on Thursday that the doctor only took off his mask to take a dip. The rep also said the boat on which his party was held was privately owned. “Dr. Varshavski has always been—and is—a proponent of mask wearing and safety amidst the pandemic,” said his rep.
