As Apple sets up for WWDC 2013 many iPhone and Apple fans are wondering, will a new iPhone be announced this year and what will it look like? What features will it have?

The iPhone 5S or 6 may be the most anticipated smartphone of the year and if Apple is planning to release the phone they have been tight-lipped about letting any information slip. The past WWDC Keynotes have played home to the previous iPhone releases, but this year it looks like Apple won't be unveiling any phones at the event.

Contrary to our beliefs reports are still coming out that an iPhone 5S or 6 will see the light of day this September. iTech's website is saying Chris Whitemore, an analyst with Deutsche Bank Equity Research, revealed that Apple has already started placing orders for the next iPhone's components and production of the new phone is said to start in August.

"Our checks indicate orders for the new iPhone are starting now for longer lead-time components. Specifically, we believe Apple is currently placing component orders for iPhone volume manufacturing to ramp in the August timeframe, suggesting they're on pace for a late September launch," said Whitmore.

Whitmore also suggested that Apple will be revamping their iOS software to up the "cool" factor around Apple's products. Whitmore noted, "The general look and feel of iOS is six years old and is in desperate need of an update and some spark. It seems clear that Jony Ive's fingerprints will be all over iOS 7, which we expect to be the most significant iOS upgrade from a visual perspective."

The new iPhone 5S and 6 are rumored to be completely different models than the current generation iPhones. The 5S will be toting a better display by double the resolution of the iPhone 5's Retina display. Concepts have released that to compete with newer model Samsung's and HTC smartphones the iPhone 6 will be sporting a 4.8-inch screen and slim down to about half the size.

With all the rumors Apple fans are still clinging to hope that they will see a new smartphone released this year but with Apple CEO Tim Cook letting on that no new products will be launching before fall, the September rumor seems to hit a roadblock. But how likely is it that Apple would launch the iPhone 5S and 6 at the same time? Not very likely, and if Apple follows trend we should be seeing a S model phone shortly and a new numbered phone after that.

Only time will tell, and hopefully at WWDC all or most of our answers will be answered. Log in June 10-14 to get your WWDC updates here.
