Arizona is enduring a heartbreaking loss with news of two little girls losing their lives at the hands of their father. It is being reported that an Arizona man murdered his two daughters and then killed himself.

According to People, Phoenix police discovered the gruesome scene Sunday night. Police officers were summoned by the mother, Carmen Arismendez, to check on the children and her ex-husband, Jerad Joseph-Arismendez.

Months before this horrific scene, the girls' mother got a protective order against their dad, accusing him of repeated harassment and violence.

Court records showed that in June, Carmen filed and received an order of protection against Jerad. The documents, obtained by FOX 28, allege Joseph-Arismendez had “violent tendencies” and obsessive behavior, and at one point put Carmen in a choke hold.

"He lives 1 minute away from me and can come over to 'take care of me' whenever," she wrote, adding that he calls her up to 50 times a day. "I fear for my safety as he has violent tendencies."

According to the FOX 28, in 2006, Joseph-Arismendez pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct on two separate occasions, once in Avondale, Arizona, and in 2013 charges against him for assault and criminal damage were dismissed.

The two girls lived with their mother but were reportedly visiting their father for the weekend.

Shortly before Carmen's call, Joseph-Arismendez neighbor called the police to report the sound of gunshots. Responding officers found him and his 5-year-old daughter, Audrey, dead in the home. His 4-year-old daughter, Ariah, was taken to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do,” one of the the girls’ relatives, Maira Garcia, wrote on aGoFundMe page set up to help pay for their funeral expenses. “I found out this morning that my 4 and 5 year old baby cousins Ariah and Audrey have gone to heaven."
