The Grand Tour host, Jeremy Clarkson, apologized to the The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for a controversial article he wrote for the Sun after the couple accused Clarkson of penning pieces "that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories, and misogyny."

Clarkson said that he detested Meghan "on a cellular level" in an article for the newspaper that was published on Friday. He claimed to be "dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her”.
"Everyone my age thinks the same way," he continued.

He said in a statement on Monday that he sent the couple an email on Christmas Day to apologize for his "disgraceful" behavior and express his "profoundly sorry." The Broadcaster has said he is "horrified" after "causing so much hurt" in a column he wrote in the Sun about the Duchess of Sussex, reports BBC.
Normally, according to Clarkson, he would have someone review his Sun stories, but he rushed through writing this one and didn't show it to anyone. The Sussexes disagree with that explanation and assert that he has a history of writing hostile writings.
There has been widespread disapproval of the remarks. John Bishop, a comedian, wrote on Twitter that the comments were a "blatant appeal to incite humiliation and violence on a woman."
WTF is this ??

I don't care who you are or who you work for you simply can not write things like this. It is a blatant appeal to incite humiliation and violence on a woman. Some have excused it as dark humour. There is mo joke here @JeremyClarkson and no excuse. https://t.co/ewU8bnykhj
The comedian Dom Joly said he was "literally gobsmacked" at Clarkson’s "utterly vile and disgusting comments." He added, "What is it about these type of men that triggers them so?"
The presenter Carol Vorderman tweeted: "NO, Jeremy Clarkson. Not on any level, in any circumstance, is it OK to write this stuff about any woman and absolutely NO to ‘everyone who’s my age thinks the same'."

Meghan Markle — the actual victim — who Clarkson wanted stripped naked, shamed in the street and excrement thrown at, received no direct apology.
Make it make sense.
Clarkson, The presenter of Amazon Prime's 'The Grand Tour' and 'Clarkson's Farm' and ITV's 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?,' said he typically reads his work before filing it, but on that particular day, he was alone himself at home and pressed for time.
"So when I'd finished, I just pressed send. And then, when the column appeared the next day, the land mine exploded."
He said he picked up a copy of The Sun and quickly realised he had "completely messed up".
"You are sweaty and cold at the same time. And your head pounds. And you feel sick. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Had I really said that? It was horrible."
He claimed that while he was writing about picturing the duchess being abused in public, he was thinking of a scene from Game of Thrones but had forgotten to mention it.

In a recent interview with ITV, Prince Harry criticised Clarkson as well as the Royal Family for not commenting on the matter at the time . reports BBC.
Clarkson said, "On Christmas morning, I emailed Harry and Meghan in California to apologise to them too. I said I was baffled by what they had been saying on TV but that the language I'd used in my column was disgraceful and that I was profoundly sorry." Additionally, he revealed that some of his critics had included his own daughter Emily.
Amazon Prime "is likely to be parting ways" with Clarkson after 2024, when his shows that are already in the pipeline are due to end, reports Variety. Prime Video declined to comment on this story. Prime Video spun off “Top Gear” as “The Grand Tour,” which is now in its fifth and final season.
