Jimmy Kimmel Sends Surprising Message to Donald Trump

Jimmy Kimmel, who has been an unapologetic critic of the White House and President Donald Trump, is flipping the script, at least a little. During a media appearance at the "Bloomberg Screentime" conference in Los Angeles, Kimmel said he'd "love" to have Trump as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and followed that up by adding, "I'll ask him."

Yes, really.

The surprising olive branch, or challenge, depending on how you read it, came as part of a discussion about media polarization and Trump's overwhelming presence across television and social media. Kimmel, who has never minced words about the president, noted that Trump "is on TV all day, every day," and made it clear he isn't trying to hide his opinion. "You don't have to guess how I feel. You could just Google it," he said.

Backlash, Buzz, and Bold Timing

Kimmel's comments come just weeks after he returned to the air following a brief suspension by ABC, reportedly linked to controversial remmarks involving the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Since his return, Kimmel has doubled down on political commentary.

His offer to Trump is already drawing a range of reactions. Some viewers are applauding the potential for an unfiltered face-to-face exchange. Others are questioning the logic of giving Trump airtime on a show that's built its audience partly by mocking him.

Would Trump accept? That's unclear. The former president hasn't responded publicly, and in the past he's been vocal about refusing to appear on shows hosted by critics. But with the 2026 election cycle heating up, and Trump leaning heavily into media attention, it wouldn't be the strangest move he's made.

The invitation isn't for any republican or White House official

Kimmel drew the line on the name of the Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr.

Kimmel said he wasn't interested in having Carr on. Carr had threatened action against him after his comments around Kirk's assasination.
