The New York Yankees will retire former manager Joe Torre’s No. 6 during a ceremony on August 23. This summer, the team will also honor former players Goose Gossage, Tino Martinez and Paul O’Neill with plaques at Monument Park. Bernie Williams will be honored next season.

Torre managed the Bronx Bombers for 12 years, from 1996-2007. Under Torre the team went 1,173-767, winning 10 division titles, six AL pennants and four World Series. Torre is currently Major League Baseball’s executive vice president of baseball operations.

With Torre’s No. 6 being retired, and Jeter’s No. 2 sure to be retired in the future, the Yankees are out of single digits. They will have all been retired and the list includes Billy Martin, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Joe Torre, Mickey mantle, Yogi Berra, Bill Dickey and Roger Maris. But for now the only unretired single digit number is No.2, Jeter’s.
