Kate Middleton vs. Meghan Markle: Prince William, Harry's Wives Are Not Complete Opposites

Aside from Queen Elizabeth II herself, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are, perhaps, two of the most famous female members of the royal. As Prince William and Prince Harry’s respective wives, it’s easy to see why so much media attention is directed at these two stunning and sophisticated women.

It is also understandable why royal family fans love to compare the two royals. It even reached to the point that fans have now grouped themselves into team Kate or team Meghan, which sparked a rather lively discussion on the two ladies’ differences.

In fact, there are those who believe that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are complete opposites. “In my opinion, yes, they are complete opposites in many ways,” Claire Chase wrote on Quora.

To support her statement, Chase cited that a few things that Kate Middleton would never do in contrast to Meghan Markle. For instance, the Quora user said that the Duchess of Cambridge will never do a magazine interview while she was still dating Prince William and tell the entire world they are both in love.

Chase also wrote that she can’t imagine Kate complaining even as she “puked her way through three pregnancies” or “talking over William during their engagement interview.” She, then, concluded that Kate and Meghan are “as opposite as two women can be.”

However, some fans believe that Kate and Meghan are not necessarily opposites but just different. And, just like everyone is slightly different from one another, the Duchess of Cambridge being different from the Duchess of Sussex in some aspects is not a bad thing at all.

“No, I don’t think they are complete opposites, but they are different,” Jen Swenson wrote on Quora. “Very different in some ways, and that’s a good thing!”

Swenson added that fans should stop comparing the two duchesses or pick sides. According to the Quora user, just as Prince William is different from Prince Harry, it’s okay for Kate to be different from Meghan without passing judgment on their difference.

“It’s ok to admire and support BOTH of the Duchesses for their own strengths and contributions to the country and the charities they support,” Swenson wrote. “Meghan will never be like Catherine. She’s not supposed to be like Catherine! She’s supposed to be herself.”

Numerous articles have already pointed out some of the more obvious differences between Kate and Meghan. According to CheatSheet, the former avoids the press if possible while the latter, perhaps due to her Hollywood experience, seems to welcome them.

Meanwhile, UK-based publication Daily Mail also noted the fashion differences between the two royals. Kate Middleton prefers bright colors while Meghan Markle seems to favor dark neutrals.
