No one is more popular in the entire British royal family than the two duchesses, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. Most of the news you'll see about the famous family revolves around the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex.

But why exactly are these two ladies so controversial not only in Europe but also on a global scale?

For one, both of them have their own unique stories on how they met their royal husbands. Second, they are both so beautiful and glamorous that people just couldn't help but pit them against each other on who is more popular.

Even though Kate has been in the royal family and under the radar of almost every person in the planet for years now, Meghan is steadily catching up with her. As we all know, the former "Suits" star is highly controversial due to her American lineage and the fact that she is the first member of the royal family to be of mixed-race.

So, does this mean that Meghan is now at the top of the popularity chart of the British royals?

According to a report from the Express, Kate Middleton is still the more popular duchess, as voted by the people.

In a poll from YouGov, the Duchess of Cambridge is currently the fourth most popular member of the royal family, scoring 65% positive opinions and only 10% negative views from 9,234 respondents who were interviewed between June 2018 and June 2019.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex ranked as the sixth most popular member of the royal family, scoring 49% on the positivity scale with only 16% negative opinions.

With Queen Elizabeth being the most popular member of the British royal family, followed by Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate, Meghan scored a bit lower than Prince Philip on the popularity scale.

Still, judging on what the media is reporting, it's not impossible for Meghan to become even more popular than Kate, or even more popular than the queen herself.
