Kate Middleton Will Never Become Queen, Says Royal Expert

As the wife of an heir to the British throne, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, will someday be queen. At the time when Prince William will reign, Kate Middleton will sit beside the new king as the new queen. However, this may not be entirely correct.

While fans can’t wait for the time when they can finally call Kate their queen, a royal expert explained why she can never really be one. It all boils down to her not being of royal blood.

When Meghan Markle married into the royal family, she earned the title of duchess. Today, she’s known as the Duchess of Sussex, and that is just as far as it will ever likely go for Meghan. For Kate, however, it’s a different story.

When Kate married William, her title in the United Kingdom became “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.” When she’s in Scotland, people call her the “Countess of Strathearn.” And while she’s in Northern Ireland, she’s called “Lady Carrickfergus.”

As Prince William ascends the throne following Prince Charles’ death, however, things will change for Kate. Since she’s going to become the wife of a king, she will have yet another new name, but it won’t be queen. Instead, it will be queen consort.

Once Prince William becomes king, people around the world will start calling Kate “Queen Catherine.” Despite that, royal expert Marlene Koenig explained that her official title will not be queen but queen consort. That is simply because she was not born into the royal family but only married into it.

According to Koenig, only women who were born into the royal family can ever be queen. That means that while Kate can only become a queen consort, her daughter, Princess Charlotte, who was born a royal, will one day become queen.

When Kate becomes queen consort, she will continue to support her charitable causes and stay beside the king, William, at all times. People all over the world may also see more of her as she makes regular appearances in various places with the new king.
