Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are considered to be the two most fashionable new generation of royals. Fans from all over the world follow their every move to keep abreast of their latest ensemble, hoping that they could emulate that Kate or Meghan look.

Of course jewelry is a very important fashion accessory. That’s why it did not escape Kate’s fans that the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing what seems to be a new piece of jewelry.

During Saturday’s Trooping the Colour ceremony, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Kate Middleton seems to be wearing a new necklace. It features a cross pendant on a chain and looks almost similar to a necklace she was seen wearing in 2011.

However, fans are betting that it must be a totally new piece. “I think it’s a new cross. Larger,” a fan wrote on Twitter.

“Trying to see if Kate is wearing this cross necklace she wore a lot in 2011, especially on the Canadian tour, but I think they are different,” another fan shared the same observation. “New one looks like the chain goes through a piece atop the cross, rather than through the cross itself like this one.”

There are some observers who believe that it’s exactly the same piece that she was seen wearing back in 2011. However, Kate had incorporated a new design element to it — a new diamond bail or the part of the necklace that attaches the pendant to the chain.

“The only difference is the additional diamond at the top of the cross, which could have been easily added at a later stage,” jeweler Leora Moreno explained. “It could be that Kate was gifted a diamond she wanted to add, or had another piece she no longer wore but wanted to keep the diamond, so transferred it over.”
