Lenovo India has announced on Twitter that there will be another variant of the K5 Note to hit the Indian market next week.

Last Friday, the Indian-based subsidiary of the Chinese tech company took to the social-networking site to announce the 4GB RAM version of the upcoming K5 Note India Edition, GSM Arena reported.

“What type of multitasker are you? Find out. Answer the question below with #KillerNote5 & win cool earphones,” Lenovo India captioned a promotional image that contains the words: “Tell us all the apps you’d open with the 4GB RAM of the #KILLERNOTE5."

A day prior, Lenovo India also released a promotional clip about the new variant of the K5 Note on Twitter.

It was revealed in the promo clip that the K5 Note is a smooth multitasker that can run up to 32 apps simultaneously.

The news about the 4GB RAM variant came as a surprise because Indian tech sites and consumers were expecting the standard 2GB RAM version of the K5 Note to arrive on Aug. 1. Lenovo only launched the 4GB RAM version of the device in its homeland China.

Aside from the RAM difference, Android Authority pointed out that other specifications and features remain the same.

The K5 Note has 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, full metal body, rear fingerprint scanner and 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor.

The handset also boasts of 16GB internal memory that is expandable up to 128GB via the microSD card slot, 1.5W speaker with Dolby ATMOS surround sound, 4G LTE support and 3,500mAh battery.

In terms of camera technology, Gadgets 360 has found out that Lenovo’s K5 Note will come with a 13-megapixel back camera with PDAF autofocus, LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie snapper.

Sadly, the handset will only have Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and there is no mention if it is upgradeable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The 2GB RAM version launched with the price of CNY 1,099 or $165. Given the bump in RAM, the Indian market can expect a more expensive rate for the 4GB RAM model.

Both the 2GB and 4GB RAM versions of the K5 Note will be released in India on Aug. 1. The phone was initially slated to be released in the country on July 20, but it was delayed possibly to give time for Lenovo to work on the 4GB RAM version.
