León and Pachuca will be battling in the Liga MX Clausura 2014 Finals. This game appears to favor Pachuca. You might be wondering how these two times made it this far to make it to the Championship game.

La Fiera advanced after eliminating Cruz Azul in the quarterfinals by draw and a score of 3-3. Cruz Azul wasted many opportunities they had to capitalize and beat León. Their next opponent would be Toluca, which they beat 1-0. On Sunday, day in which one of the finalists would be defined, Toluca just couldn’t beat them. On the other hand León scored a goal and that was their ticket to play in the finals. León has played in five finals and has won two of them. They won in 1991-1993 and Apertura 2013 and lost in 1972-1973, 1974-1975 and Invierno 1997.

On the other hand, Pachuca made it to the finals by beating Pumas in the quarterfinals and then Santos Laguna in the semifinals. They got to the playoffs as No. 6 on the standings. But it wasn’t a great season either, but they did have the best scorer of the season, Enner Valencia who scored 12 goals in regular season and has had his clutch goals when needed in the playoffs. They have definitely showed a different face playing much better than they did in the regular season, demonstrating why they deserve to be in the finals. They have played in seven finals, having won five of those. They won in Invierno 1999, Invierno 2001, Apertura 2003, Clausura 2006 and Clausura 2007. They lost in Verano 2000 and Clausura 2009.
